The Japanese Market Summer Festival takes place this weekend (June 11-12), featuring more than 70 vendors of Japanese and Japanese-themed food, art and culture – the perfect mix for a day well filled.

Organized by three Japanese-Canadians and Vancouver-based business owners, Yuko Yoshida (Pac West Kimono), Mami Mizutani (Beauty Secrets of Japan) and Yurie Hoyoyon (Cutie x Cutie), this outdoor market is a passion for spreading the beauty of Japanese culture (expect a curated selection of everything from Japanese-inspired bags, jewelry, and clothing to candles, soaps, and artwork). Pro tip: be hungry! The market has outdone itself with a solid array of Japanese food trucks and vendors (we’ve got our eye on crispy pocket sushi from Taco Nori Sushi Tacos and sweet snacks from Kanadell Japanese Bakery). For a full list of participating vendors, see the Japan Marketplace website.

Japan Market will take place at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s North Plaza on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $9 for two (16 and under can enter for free). Buy your tickets in advance here. For more festival news, keep an eye on their Instagram page.
