A Fort Lauderdale chef who specializes in Japanese cuisine will join the culinary team at Café Boulud on Thursday to help prepare a special multi-course “Journey to Japan” dinner.
Guest Chef Taek “Taka” Lee will prepare six of the 12 small plates for the dinner paired with sake while Café Boulud Executive Chef Dieter Samijn will prepare the other six courses.

Lee, sushi and executive chef for over 20 years, runs Oku by Takato at the Conrad Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.
“Japanese Journey” will begin with a reception at 6:45 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. A guest sake sommelier, Carl Callewaert, will select pairings for dinner.
Truffled Hokaido scallop at the start of the meal, followed by plain toast; Ika somen (thin Japanese noodles); and fried rice arancini.
The meal will continue with a crab and lemongrass tartlet; miso sea bass; bull tartare; and turbot with seaweed and cabbage.
Kaizen soba noodles; Wagyu BBQ short rib; dragon fruit sorbet with cherry blossom tea; and the Matcha tea madeleines are the last dishes planned for the evening.
